My Fundraising Goal

So I've worked out a budget and estimated costs to live in Tanzania for 10 months. Based on the math below my goal will be to fundraise $11,000!
It seems like a lot but I know God will provide!

ministry donation - $400
internet & phone - $52
transportation - $50
house help - $15
personal - $50
= $642/month (based on minimums)
round-trip flight - $2,000
retreat - $500
visa - $200
laptop - $1,300 (13" 2.0GHz 80GB Macbook)
= $4,000 for one-time expenses
FUNDRAISING GOAL
$642 x 10 months + $4,000 = $10,420 in US funds
which is around $11,000 Canadian.

I was planning to volunteer for a year but I will run out of my medication before then. There's still a possibility that I can get a prescription from my other specialist but I won't know until just before I leave in October. So for now I have adjusted my time frame and budgeting for 10 months.

Please continue to pray for healing for me. Pray that the growth I have been diagnosed with disappears. The doctors will be baffled and I will say, "by the grace of God, the one whom I serve for all my days, He has healed me today!" :)
Please also pray for God's blessing upon my fundraising. I still have along way to go.

- that I receive good results on the MRI I had this week (find out on Thursday)
- praise God for the support that I've received so far, for the people who are committed to pray for me, and for those who have offered me advice and moral support
- the on-going efforts to find someone to replace me in my job
- the struggles I'm having with balancing my time and energy between my job, friends, family and support raising

FUNDRAISING - after one month

The past month has been challenging and rewarding!
The most challenging part so far has been "finding my voice". I'm a fairly independent person so it's hard for me to ask for help from people let alone ask them for money. It's definitely stretching me.
The Fundraising Dinner was a different challenge altogether. It was a good challenge and I loved every minute of it... even the stressful parts.
FUNDRAISING SUMMARY after 1 MONTH:
$1000 CDN
= 7% of my budget
... still have far to go.

Prayer

Please continue to pray for my health
My appointment last Friday went well. My Endocrinologist has started me on medication. I am to go for blood work and then back to see her in 4 weeks to see if the drug is working as expected. I've finally been scheduled for an MRI. They're booking into June BUT I got booked into a cancellation on March 16 at 3:10 p.m. Praise God! It is hoped that the MRI is consistant with the assumed diagnosis of a small and benign growth (tumor is such an ugly word).
Pray for Nadine
Nadine is the girl who I'll be traveling and working with in Tanzania. She arrives in Canada in less then a week. Please pray that she has a safe trip and enjoys her time in Canada (and the U.S.) over the next few months.
Pray for the Dinner Fundraiser
It's the first fundraiser and it would be great to kick start it well. Please pray that this event is a success and that it will help develop relationships and support.

I ask for continued prayer for my health.
This past week I went for the Triple Bolus Test and the Field of Vision Test. I meet with my Endocrinologist on February 1 to discuss the results. It is being assumed at this point that I have a small growth on my pituitary gland. Please pray that these test reveal that it is small and treatable... better yet pray for healing so that there is nothing to be found. :)

I've completed a budget for this opportunity to volunteer for a year and my goal is $13,000 US. Please pray for people to believe in this opportunity, to bless and be a part of something that God is doing in another part of this world.

Please pray for my health.
I recently learned that I have elevated levels of Prolactin. I saw an Endocrinologist this week. To determine the cause of these elevated levels I have been sent for more blood testing and I'm being scheduled for an MRI, a Triple Bolus test and a Visual Field Examination. Please pray that I get booked into these tests in the very near future and pray that the results are in my favour and will not impact my "leave" date.
